Healing writing in practice

Over the last few weeks, many of you have asked me how to imagine healing writing in practice and what skills are needed to participate in a course.
The first time I encountered this (therapeutic) use of writing was years ago. Anikó Miskei, a psychologist, was the first in the country to start a course on Healing Writing, and the name comes from her, despite the fact that the book Expressive Writing by James W. Pennebaker, which was later published in Hungarian translation, was also called Expressive Writing.
Since then, the method has been expanded and further developed. The course is a small group course, with 8-15 participants, and has a very family atmosphere.
In the first class, we touch on the psychology of writing and learn why we prefer handwriting when working with our stuttering.
Each participant will bring a stuck moment, trauma or event from their life to work with during a few classes. At the time of registration, we ask that you bring a "problem" that you consider to be at least a 7 in emotional intensity on a scale of 1-10. Most of the exercises are individual, but there are also opportunities for pair exercises.

What is important: nothing is compulsory! We only guide you as far as you feel safe, you don’t have to share anything you  don't want to share with others. We are mindful of both finding and respecting your own limits.
You will rewrite the same story several times as you work through it. Each time from a different perspective, until, after full reflection and understanding, you will be given the opportunity to finally see your own experience more objectively and fully. The final transcript will be a story that you can reintegrate into your life without any difficulty, just with a different emotional charge.
The tasks are simple and do not require any special skills. Often this method is confused with creative writing courses, but the two methods are completely different in terms of both tools and purpose. It doesn't matter how beautifully or stylishly you can write, and it doesn't detract from the value of your writing if you haven't put it down on paper in pearl letters.
In this course, you will not listen to information and lectures, but you will work through a trauma through guided exercises that you have not been able to do in any other way. You will then be able to apply this technique independently to work through another problem.
What do you need? Presence and motivation!  smiley
